Wednesday, August 31st, I met my deadline and turned in The Duke’s Shield, Book 3, in The Duke’s Guard Series. I currently have two books in my editor’s queue and will have the new release date for Book 2, The Duke’s Protector, TBA.
Soooo, what am I writing now? The Merry Wife of Wyndmere, which will be included in Dragonblade Publishing’s Anthology, A Duke in Winter which is available for pre-order now!
The Merry Wife of Wyndmere features Jared and Persephone, the Duke and Duchess of Wyndmere from my series, The Lords of Vice. Did you ever wonder what happens after, the HEA (Happily Ever After)? It’s not always sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows–one of my favorite songs recorded by the late, great Lesley Gore.
Here’s the blurb:
Persephone, Duchess of Wyndmere still has the weight she gained carrying her babes. She started to lose it and then a few months later she started gaining it back–worse still she’s exhausted again! She relies heavily on Gwendolyn O’Malley’s assistance with her twins, but the terrifying kidnapping attempts on her precious babes, coupled with her weight and exhaustion, have her moods shifting from happy to dark.
Jared, Duke of Wyndmere is still surly, preoccupied, and never available during the day. Although Persephone understands he has many estates, staff, and family–as well as his personal guard, requiring his attention, she cannot help but think it is the her appearance that has him avoiding her, keeping him from their bed. He never retires before midnight, conveniently when the twins are awake demanding to be fed. Her passionate lover has either fallen out of love with her, now that he has his heir–or mayhap seeking his pleasure elsewhere. When he announces his plans to hie off to London, she is positive he plans to search for a mistress to replace her in his bed.
While he is away, Persephone tries to fill her evenings with the distraction of numerous social gatherings that include their neighbors and two rumored rakehells. Much to her surprise, the gentlemen with questionable reputations lavish her with compliments until she wonders if isn’t only her overblown figure that has sent her husband to London. He has gone too long without the passion they used to share. She suspects now more than ever that he is spending his evenings in the arms of another woman.
Unbeknownst to her, Patrick O’Malley, the head of the Duke’s Guard, is keeping the duke apprised of the happenings. When O’Malley finally asks the duke if he intends to tarnish the family name he fought so hard to restore along with that of his wife and babes, the duke responds that his duchess is doing a bloody good job of it without him!
Can the interference of the duke’s guard, and their faithful staff, bring the duke and his duchess back together, or will their plans backfire and force them further apart?
As soon as I finish writing this novella, due in a few weeks, I have to dive into The Duke’s Dragoon, Book 4 in The Duke’s Guard, which is due at the end of November. So I may be a bit preoccupied myself…writing! LOL!
Before I end this post, I thought I’d share this really cool banner I created at AllAuthor earlier today:
