The stories are all connected to Christmas carols. The Holly and The Ivy began playing in my head the moment the call for submissions for the collection was announced. Just a note about holly and ivy: In Britain, holly has been associated with protection and ivy with life eternal for many years.
Before the Battle of Trafalgar, Captain Coventry promised to look after his best friend’s wife and two-year-old son should anything happen to him.
